About Shasta Stimulus Team
HOW AND WHY THE SHASTA STIMULUS TEAM WAS ORGANIZED

With so much emphasis being focused on the Federal stimulus monies known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), a  discussion with local Shasta County partners took place specifically regarding a portion of the funds that were allocated to the City of Redding by the the Department of Energy.

This initial working  group also included the Shasta Builders Exchange, the professional association for local contractors which had an interest in job creation for its members.   Other members of the working group included the Redding Electric Utility, Shasta County Housing, the Smart Business Resource Center, Redding Rancheria and the cities of Anderson and Shasta Lake.

As a result of initial discussions,  it was determined that the grant application process for Department of Energy funds could be bolstered if the various entities worked together to leverage the funds.

Because of that process, the group decided that it would be good for Shasta County to have an ongoing stimulus working group that could keep their pulse on when, where and how much funding was coming to Shasta County through ARRA Funding. The common thread of interest with the entire group is not only to maximize the opportunities for Shasta County through the use of these federal funds, but also to insure that job creation is the by-product.

This ongoing desire to work together has been a normal process for Shasta County agencies and local governments and with the Shasta Stimulus Team, it is expected to provide a much more cohesive and beneficiary process that most likely will secure more funding and more job creation for Shasta county residents.
